"Lost Tears"

Silver,Moonstones,steel wire,2.5"x1.5"

The title of this artwork is "Lost Tears". It uses imperfect leaves and crystal-like gemstones to express the idea that imperfection can also be a unique kind of beauty. Among the countless leaves in the world, the combination of a flawed leaf and dewdrops makes this particular leaf stand out. The leaf's texture is authentic and unique; I created it by pressing a real leaf into silver clay, capturing its intricate patterns. I then set two moonstones into the silver using claw and bezel settings.
Originally, there was a design featuring a ladybug on the leaf, but like a story with only one protagonist, I wanted the focus of this piece to be on the relationship between the leaf and the dewdrops. The presence of the ladybug might have been too jarring. Through this artwork, I hope to encourage myself and others to be more accepting and confident about our imperfections. Sometimes, those imperfections can be uniquely transformative, adding a perfect finishing touch.
”Rong Hua“
silver wire,3"x2”
The piece is titled "RongHua," means glory and splendor because it has the same harmonic meaning as ”RongHua”. And it serves as an ear decoration designed to be worn behind the ear. Crafted from silver, this piece draws inspiration from the Chinese intangible cultural heritage known as "RongHua." In contrast to the traditional Chinese “RongHua”, which are typically made from numerous silk threads and metal frames, the modern RongHua in this creation is crafted from several soldered silver threads.
